Could liposuction on my waist reduce my risk of heart disease?
Meavan asked:
I’ve read that women with waists larger than 32″ (80cm) are at a higher risk of heart disease. Mine is 37″. If I had liposuction to remove 5 ” (11 cm) would be risk be reduced??

No. Liposuction to remove fat has NO impact on your risk of developing heart disease. (They’ve done research on this)
This is probably because it removes fat that is under the skin. You also have fat inside your abdomen, and you can’t liposuction that fat. (It’s all mixed together with your omentum and intestines and such)
You can reduce your risk of heart disease by losing weight the hard way – diet and exercise.

No because your eating and exercise behavior is just going to put it right back on…..like it put it on in the first place. If you eat right and exercise, you will reduce your waist and be heart healthier.
Don’t look to pills and surgery as a way to fix years of bad habits. You have to retrain yourself.

Liposuction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
Hope this helps.

I would think the stress of having the liposuction is more likely to give you a heart attack. That’s the only connection I can see.

Not really, because liposuction just remove the superficial fat, which lies just below the skin. It’s the deep abdominal fat that is close to your organs that is the health risk. Also, 5 inches of lipo is rather a lot, especially in one sessions, you might end up with excess skin. It’s better just to try to lose weight, liposuction is definitely not an alternative to weight loss. HTH.

if you have a lot of weight to lose, then it would be benificial as it would reduce the strain on your heart, but you dont sound particularly large, so just a sensible eating plan would suffice. besides, liposuction is very costly, and you would be left with small scars from the insicions.
